The RS 3 Pro is a handheld three-axis gimbal built from aluminum alloy and carbon fiber. It carries a tested payload of 4.5 kg and uses a third-generation stabilization algorithm, with a SuperSmooth mode that raises motor torque for fast-moving shots. Axis locks work automatically: holding the power button unfolds and unlocks all three axes, and holding it again locks them and powers down. A gimbal mode switch changes between Pan Follow, Pan and Tilt Follow and FPV, and the FPV position can be reassigned to 3D Roll 360, Portrait or Custom.
Focus and monitoring come from add-on modules. The LiDAR Range Finder (RS) measures distance from 0.5 to 14 m and drives focus on manual lenses, and it can follow a person's face, head or body. The Ronin Image Transmitter sends video wirelessly, with 60 ms latency and up to 200 m range under SRRC/FCC rules (100 m under CE) in open conditions. The gimbal has a Bluetooth shutter function for compatible cameras, a front dial for electronic focus, and a customizable M button.
The gimbal pairs with a phone over Bluetooth 5.0 for activation, firmware updates and control through the Ronin app. The built-in battery grip runs up to 12 hours and charges over USB-C. RSA/NATO ports, a 1/4"-20 hole and a cold shoe allow accessories to be mounted. The ports are not waterproof or dustproof.
