The Q3 is an equalizer module in the 500 series format, built around induction coils. Each of its three bands has fixed preset curves at every setting, so tone shaping is done by choosing a combination of presets rather than sweeping continuous controls. The combinations add up to more than 10,000 tonal variations.
Because the curves are fixed, a favourite setting can be written down as a three-number combination and dialled in again later. Suggested uses include a channel strip together with a PowerPre EQ and a Komit compressor, a live vocal chain with a PowerTube and optionally an EXTC for special effects, and adding sparkle to acoustic instruments or punch to bass.
The module fits standard 500 series racks. The maker lists it under part number R700 0160 00 and has stopped shipping it; a user guide and smart sheet remain available for owners.
