The JU-06 is a compact module that reproduces the sound set and layout of the JUNO-106, including the strings patches and the chorus effect. Twenty-three parameters from the original are on the front panel as knobs and sliders, so patches can be shaped directly. Additions over the original are a faster LFO and a continuously variable high-pass filter.
A 16-step sequencer with 16 patterns allows ideas to be sketched without a keyboard, and two ribbon controllers handle pitch bend, modulation and sound preview. Two units can be linked over MIDI in chain mode to act as one 8-voice synth, each extra module adding 4 voices. The module can be docked in the optional K-25m 25-key keyboard unit, and has a built-in 0.5 W mini speaker.
It connects through stereo mini-jack input, output and headphone sockets, MIDI In/Out and a micro-B USB port that carries MIDI and 24-bit / 44.1 kHz audio. Power comes from four AA batteries or USB bus power.
