The RD-2000 EX pairs a V-Piano modeling engine with a SuperNATURAL engine. The V-Piano side offers acoustic piano presets and Piano Designer tools for adjusting individual note tuning and tonal detail. Two V-Piano expansions, German Concert and Essential Upright, come pre-installed. The SuperNATURAL side covers electric pianos, including recreations of the RD-1000 and MKS-20, along with vintage-style effects such as the BOSS CE-1 and Dimension D. It also holds more than 1100 other sounds, including Virtual ToneWheel organs, synths, strings and brass.
The PHA-50 keyboard has 88 keys, a wood and plastic hybrid structure, escapement and ebony/ivory feel. On the panel are nine sliders and eight LED-lit knobs, a pitch/mod lever and two assignable wheels. Eight zones can split or layer sounds, and 100 Scenes store full keyboard setups. Two Wave Expansion slots take additional sound libraries.
For connections, there are XLR and 1/4-inch main outputs, 1/4-inch sub outputs, a stereo mini aux input and MIDI I/O. A USB audio/MIDI interface runs at 24-bit/192 kHz and supports Apple MainStage control. A USB memory port handles recording and audio file playback.
