The VP82 is a short shotgun microphone designed for semi-professional audio and video work, including camera-mounted broadcast and media production. Its line/gradient pickup gives a directional pattern with a wide aperture for near-field sources and natural rejection of sound arriving from the sides and rear.
The preamplifier is built into the microphone rather than being a modular design, which keeps the body small and light. The construction is described as rugged and made for regular travel and field use.
A zippered carrying bag, a foam windscreen, a 5/8" to 3/8" thread adapter and a microphone clip are supplied. The mic works with the premium accessories made for the VP89S, and further mounts, windshields and a windscreen kit are available as optional accessories.
