Sonicware LIVEN BASS&BEATS is a portable wavetable bass synthesizer and drum machine with a 64-step sequencer and a 27-key keyboard. It is aimed at electronic producers and live performers who want bass and beats in one battery-powered unit.

The unit combines a monophonic bass engine with a polyphonic PCM rhythm engine. The bass side has two wavetable oscillators drawing on 64 wavetables, a sub oscillator and a noise generator with 16 noise types. It also has a multi-mode filter, distortion, unison, an LFO and envelope generators. Custom wavetables can be imported. The drum side holds more than 350 rhythm sounds plus risers and effect sounds, organised into genre-based kits that can be mixed and matched.
Playing and performance tools include a sequencer of up to 64 steps and 128 patterns, with parameter locking, tied notes, chain playback and Random, Stutter and Dice effects. Two assignable knobs control several parameters at once. Each drum sound can be muted separately, and there are dedicated bass, drum and line-in level controls plus a sidechain compressor. Bass tools include Dimension, Machine Gun, Sweep, glide and legato or mono modes. Reverb and a set of master effects are built in. Two overlay panels are supplied for editing bass patches and drum kits.
Connections are a stereo line input, stereo line output, headphone output, 5-pin DIN MIDI in and out, and sync in and out jacks compatible with Pocket Operator 2 series. The unit has a built-in speaker and runs on six AA batteries or a 9 V DC adapter, which is not included.
