DR-08

The DR-08 is a handheld digital recorder that stores audio on microSD cards; a 2GB card is supplied. It records WAV files from 44.1kHz/16-bit up to 96kHz/24-bit, or MP3 files from 32 to 320 kbps. Two cardioid microphones sit on a variable-angle mechanism, so the width and angle of the pair can be changed to suit the source.

Recording aids include manual and automatic gain control, a low cut filter, noise cancel, a pre-recording buffer of up to 2 seconds, an auto recording mode that starts when the input passes a set level, and a timer mode that starts at a chosen time of day. For playback there is a built-in speaker, playlist and folder management, and variable speed from 50% to 200% without changing pitch, which is handy for learning music. A foldable stand is built in for desktop use, and a 96x96 backlit LCD shows settings.

A 1/8" stereo mic/line input with plug-in power and a 1/8" stereo headphone/line output handle external connections. Recordings move to a computer over USB 2.0 through a Micro-USB port. Power comes from two AAA batteries or from USB.
