The 801 D5 is the largest tower in the 800 Series Diamond line, a 3-way vented-box design with a Diamond dome tweeter mounted on top of the cabinet, a 150mm Continuum cone midrange and two 250mm Aerofoil bass drivers. The tweeter extends break-up to 70kHz, and the system covers 15Hz to 28kHz within ±3dB.
The cabinet is formed from a single continuous curve fixed to a solid aluminium spine to reduce internal reflections. Inside, an updated Matrix structure, aluminium Space Frame Bracing and a new aluminium top section limit resonance. Other listed technologies include Turbine Head, Biomimetic Suspension, an Anti-Resonance plug, Aerofoil base cones and Flowport.
It is a passive speaker, driven by an external amplifier rated 50W to 1000W into 8Ω on unclipped programme material, with a nominal impedance of 8Ω (3.0Ω minimum). Four cabinet finishes are offered: Stealth Black, Warm White, Light Walnut and Dark Walnut, with matching Leather by Connolly trim. It weighs 106.4kg, so placement and handling need planning.
