The R1700BTs is a powered bookshelf speaker pair delivering 66 W RMS in total. Each speaker pairs a 4-inch mid-bass driver with a silk-diaphragm tweeter, driven by a Class-D amplifier with digital signal processing (DSP) and dynamic range control (DRC). The MDF cabinets are intended to limit resonance and distortion, and each speaker base is angled at 10 degrees to direct sound toward the listener.
For sources there are two pairs of RCA inputs, so several devices can stay connected without re-plugging, plus Bluetooth 5.0 with Qualcomm aptX HD support for wireless streaming. A Sub Out port allows a subwoofer to be added to form a 2.1 system for extra bass.
Control is by the supplied remote or by the knobs on the right-hand speaker panel, which cover the full set of functions.
