The Utopia Main 212 is a 3.5-way main monitor built around two 13" subwoofers, two 5" "W" sandwich-cone midranges with an "M" profile and a 1.5" pure beryllium "M" profile tweeter. It is the dual-driver version of the Utopia Main 112. The tweeter is the first to use Damping Hook System technology, which is stated to halve THD at 3 kHz. Midrange suspensions use Tuned Mass Damper technology, and the cabinet is MDF with an internal bracing network.
Amplification is housed in a separate remote unit that combines Class H design with current-mode drive, together with analogue filtering. The bass section is driven by 2x500 W RMS Class D, the midrange by 2x180 W RMS Class H current mode and the tweeter by 140 W RMS Class H current mode. Frequency response is 28 Hz to 40 kHz (+/-3 dB) with a peak SPL of 123 dB at 1 m.
A balanced XLR input connects the system. Controls include a high-pass filter, low-frequency and high-frequency shelving, LF and LMF EQ, driver trims, soffit and sealed-port filters, sensitivity and auto standby. Bass and treble levels are adjustable by +/-3 dB.
