The H70 is an integrated amplifier built around Hegel's SoundEngine amplifier modules. It is the first Hegel integrated model with a fully balanced preamplifier stage, a design intended to keep distortion low. As a Next-Gen product it uses Hegel's FET technology, which is described as reducing higher-order harmonic distortion.
On the analog side there are three unbalanced RCA inputs and one balanced XLR input. Digital sources can be connected through a coaxial input and an optical input, which suit music streamers, satellite receivers and similar devices.
A built-in USB sound card lets a computer or laptop act as a source directly. The unit measures 8 cm x 43 cm x 41.5 cm (H x W x D) and weighs 12 kg. The model is now listed among Hegel's discontinued products.
