The Ci160QR is a passive in-ceiling speaker from KEF's Ci-Q Series. It uses a 160 mm (6.5 in.) Uni-Q driver array in which the 19 mm aluminium dome tweeter sits at the acoustic centre of the bass/midrange cone, so both drivers act as one point source. A 'tangerine' waveguide is fitted to the tweeter. The aim is wide, even dispersion, which allows fewer speakers to cover a room.
The Ultra Thin Bezel (UTB) design keeps the visible rim around the speaker as narrow as possible, giving freedom in choosing where to place it. The cabinet needs a 196 mm x 196 mm cut-out and has a mounting depth of 91 mm from the surface. Frequency response is 38 Hz - 34 kHz (±6 dB) in 2pi/open-backed use, with sensitivity of 89 dB and a 3.0 kHz crossover point.
Connection is through gold plated, spring loaded binding posts. A recommended amplifier power range of 10 - 125 W is given. Further details are available through the maker's Ci software download page.
