The Nº 536 is a fully discrete, fully differential, direct-coupled monoblock amplifier. It is rated at 400 W RMS into 8 ohms and 800 W into 4 ohms, and it is stable into 2-ohm loads. The output stages run in class A for most listening conditions, within a class-AB architecture. A custom toroidal transformer with separate secondary windings for each output stage supplies the power.
The circuit uses folded cascodes built from JFET and bipolar transistor pairs, a high bias current and very little negative feedback. Critical gain-setting and feedback resistors are tantalum nitride thin-film types, and critical filtering uses film capacitors. The chassis is 6000-series extruded aluminum, and the amplifier is designed and handcrafted in the USA.
There is one balanced and one single-ended input. Two pairs of Hurricane binding posts allow standard or bi-wired speaker connection. For system integration it offers Ethernet/IP, RS-232, 12V trigger in and out, and USB for monitoring and configuration through a built-in web page.
