The Pick it MM EVO is a moving-magnet cartridge built by Ortofon and tuned by the Pro-Ject design team. It carries an elliptical stylus on a robust cantilever derived from those used in DJ cartridges, so it is intended to be durable as well as detailed.
Its motor uses Ortofon split pole pins, which give a flat frequency response said to compare well with moving-coil cartridges. Other listed characteristics include low distortion, a wide dynamic range and suitability for low to medium tonearm masses. Output is 7 mV, with a recommended tracking force of 1.8 g.
The body follows the half-inch mounting standard and has threaded holes, so it can be fitted without nuts. The stylus is available separately as a replacement. The cartridge is made in Europe and is loaded with 47 kΩ and 150–300 pF.
