The HP605 generates its piano tone with modelling rather than playback of recordings, so the sound reacts to how notes are played and combined. It offers 307 tones in all, including strings, brass and organ sounds, plus a Piano Designer section for adjusting elements such as lid, resonance and noise. Polyphony is unlimited for piano tones and 384 voices for other tones.
The PHA-50 keyboard has 88 keys with wooden sides, a molded inner frame, escapement and an ebony and ivory surface feel. Sound comes from a three-way, six-speaker Acoustic Projection system driven by a four-channel amplifier. Headphones 3D Ambience adjusts the sound for headphone practice, and two headphone jacks are fitted. 25 registrations store favorite setups, including layers and splits, and can be backed up to a USB memory stick.
Bluetooth audio lets a phone or tablet play app or lesson audio through the piano speakers or headphones, and Bluetooth LE handles MIDI and page turning for score apps. A USB Computer port, a USB Memory port, line inputs and outputs, and a recorder for MIDI and WAV files cover the wired side. Four finishes are offered: polished ebony, contemporary rosewood, black and white. Bluetooth and some colors may not be offered in every country.
