MKH 8030
The MKH 8030 is a figure-8 (bi-directional) condenser microphone from Sennheiser's MKH 8000 series, aimed at recording professionals. It suits M-S, double M-S and Blumlein stereo work and situations where side sound sources must be strongly rejected.

The MKH 8030 picks up sound equally from the front and rear while rejecting sound from the sides. Its pick-up pattern is described as highly symmetrical and independent of frequency, which makes it a natural partner for a cardioid or super-cardioid microphone in an M-S stereo setup, as well as for double M-S and Blumlein arrays. It can also be used to suppress an unwanted source such as a PA system or a neighbouring instrument.
The transducer is a symmetrical, acoustically open push-pull design with a low-tension diaphragm. Frequency response runs from 30 Hz to 50 kHz, with low self-noise and low non-linear distortion. The housing is metal with a non-reflective Nextel finish, and permanent RF current at the capsule helps it cope with humid, hot and cold conditions.
The microphone is compact and modular. It connects through the supplied MZX 8000 XLR module and is powered by 48 V phantom power. It combines with other MKH 8000 accessories, and the series also covers omni, cardioid, super-cardioid and lobar models.
