Mopho x4 is a polyphonic analog synthesizer from Dave Smith Instruments (Sequential) that extends the single-voice Mopho design to four voices. Each voice has two analog oscillators, two sub-octave generators, a switchable 2- or 4-pole Curtis low-pass filter, analog VCAs, three envelope generators, four LFOs, a feedback loop and a noise source. The signal path is fully analog.
Every parameter can be edited from the front panel. Sequencing and performance tools include a 16 x 4 step sequencer per voice, an arpeggiator, and separate glide rates for each oscillator. The 44-note keyboard (F to C) is semi-weighted with velocity and aftertouch, and the pitch and mod wheels are full-sized. Memory holds 1,024 programs: four banks of 128 factory sounds and four banks of 128 user sounds.
For connections it has USB type B, MIDI In, Out/Thru and Poly Chain, stereo 1/4 inch outputs, a headphone output, and inputs for a sustain pedal and an expression pedal or control voltage. A software editor for Mac OS and Windows is available as a free download.
